Layers of Lausanne
In the series I am about to start, I will examine the layers created by every element that enters the photographic frame: the buildings side by side and alone, with their own different forms, textures, colors and materials, the people and the city animals passing by at that time, the nature and geography of the area where the buildings are located. These coming together, which may not be noticed at different times of the day, form layers in my eyes, like different but compatible pieces of a puzzle, through photography.
The combination of harmonious and incompatible differences, which can be seen a lot in Istanbul, the city where I started photography, intuitively formed my view of photography over time. In the explorations I made through photography in each new city I visited, I documented the popular structures and sometimes the structures and cityscapes that caught my attention as I was passing by. The conscious and unconscious combination of the different factors I mentioned above formed the layers of these cities in my memory that I created through photography.
During my visit to Lausanne, the first thing that caught my attention was the dramatically changing height differences, which had to do with the geography on which it was built. When i look back at the photographs five years after my Lausanne visit, I came to the idea that the “layers” were formed not only by these height differences, but also by all the factors we saw in the photographs. For this reason, I start the "Layers of" series with Lausanne.

Layers Of Lausanne series consists of one landscape photograph, two cityscape photographs, and photographs of eight different structures.
Katmanlar: Lozan
Yeni başlayacağım seride, bir şehri oluşturan katmanları inceleyeceğim. Fotoğraf karesine giren her unsur; yan yana ve tek başlarına binalar ve bu binaların farklı form, doku, renk ve malzemeleri, o sırada oradan geçen insanlar ve şehir hayvanları, yapının bulunduğu bölgenin doğası ve coğrafi özellikleri bir kentin katmanlarını oluşturuyorlar. Günün farklı zamanlarında, belki çoğunlukla dikkat çekmeyecek bu bir araya gelişler, gözümde fotoğraf aracılığıyla bir yapbozun birbirinden farklı ama birbirine uyumlu parçaları gibi bu katmanları oluşturuyorlar.
Fotoğrafçılığa başladığım kent olan İstanbul'da çokça görülebilen uyumlu ve uyumsuz farklılıkların bir araya gelişi, zaman içinde sezgisel olarak fotoğraf bakışımı oluşturdu. Her ziyaret ettiğim yeni kentte fotoğraf aracılığıyla yaptığım keşiflerde, kimi zaman popüler yapıları kimi zaman da o an oradan geçerken dikkatimi çeken yapıları, şehir manzaralarını belgeledim. Yukarıda belirttiğim farklı etmenlerin bilinçli ve bilinçdışı bir araya gelişleri, fotoğraf yoluyla oluşturduğum hafızamda, bu kentlerin katmanlarını oluşturdu.
Lozan ziyaretimde ilk dikkatimi çeken, kentin üzerine kurulu olduğu coğrafya ile bağlantılı, keskin bir şekilde değişen yükseklik farklarıydı. Ziyaretimden beş yıl sonra tekrar dönüp fotoğraflara bakınca, katmanların yalnızca bu yükseklik farklarından ötürü değil, fotoğraflarda gördüğümüz bütün etmenler tarafından oluştuğu fikrine vardım. Aslında bir kentin çeşitli katmanlardan oluştuğu ve fotoğrafın, kentin bu derinliğinin okunmasında yardım eden bir araç olduğuna dair kafamda bir fikir canlandı. Bu sebeple “Katmanlar“ serisine Lozan ile başlıyorum.
“Katmanlar: Lozan” serisi, bir adet manzara fotoğrafı, iki adet şehir manzarası fotoğrafı ve sekiz farklı yapının genel ve detay fotoğraflarından oluşuyor
